Trudy Dehue is a philosopher and sociologist of science, more specifically of the sciences studying human beings such as psychology, psychiatry and neuroscience. She has been a full professor at the University of Groningen from 1995. After her retirement because of age she continues to work at her main topics. These are the traditions and decisions preceding the production of scientific facts and the ways in which these traditions and decisions (hidden in facts) can change individual lives and social realities. In relation to his, she studies the need of time for self-reflection by researchers as well as a renewed view of academic responsibility. In her view, academic responsibility also implies an improved dialogue with non-academics who need to be informed about the ways research outcomes are produced and who can, in relevant cases, be regarded as knowledge providers too.
