Astrid Biele Mefebue is Acting Professor for the Sociology of Diversity at the Göttingen Diversity Research Institute, Faculty of Social Sciences, Georg-August-Universität Göttingen. Coming from the field of sociology of work, her focus in projects, evaluations and courses is on questions of experiencing and dealing with diversity, equality and difference in organisations. In this context she uses quantitative as well as qualitative data. Following the concept of reflexive diversity research, she commits herself to an intersectional research strategy, analysing discriminations as well as privileges. In her current research, she analyses how organisations as employers (consciously and unconsciously) open up different degrees of scope for individual conceptions of life depending on employee backgrounds.
